Brief
In 1999, Darren Almond was granted permission to remove the
two bus shelters from outside the former concentration camp
in Aushwitz (Osweicim). They were repositioned in Galerie
Max Hetzler in Berlin. The permission to remove the shelters
was granted only on the condition that Almond provide replacements.
The two shelters exhibited at the Royal Academy are the replacement
shelters.
Construction
Stainless Steel, Mild steel internal roof structure, Glass,
Oak Seating, Enamel sinage, Chemically etched zinc timetable,
Enamelled trash bins.
